One hot and very bright summer night, in July 1988, I lay on my back looking up at the bright and shimmering stars. I was very sick then, and down, and I said to myself “There MUST be a G-d.” Some weeks after that, sick and in bed, a TV preacher put his hand to the TV camera and asked if I would pray with him to Jesus for help in my time of need. I did pray – I said “Jesus, please help me!.” And then, nine months later, in April 1989, while reading Acts chapter two in a Bible given to me by a friend, the “light came on.” While reading the Scriptures, Jesus answered my prayer for help – I simply understood that Jesus is the Son of God, the Holy one of Israel, sent by G-d the Father into the very world He created to save all mankind whom He loves so very much. And Jesus saved me. At the very moment that “light came on”, G-d the Father gave me the faith I needed to believe Him, and I did believe Him. Jesus answered my prayer – I was healed, and I remain healed.
The Scriptures tell us that “faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1). “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to G-d must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6). My message to anyone who will hear it is simply this – believe G-d! “In the beginning G-d created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1) and “There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” (Proverbs 14:12).
